Description
oneppo chamber music series
The Boston-based chamber orchestra collective, which The New York Times has said "brims with personality or, better, personalities, many and varied," presents "Gravity," an inventive and thought-provoking program of music by Pärt, Xenakis, Kernis, and Bartók.
"Gravity": A progression of works for strings, beginning in the spiritual heavens of Arvo Pärt, through Xenakis' awe-inspiring aurora and Aaron Jay Kernis' Musica Celestis. The program comes down to earth with Bartók's rustic, energetic Divertimento for Strings. Osvaldo Golijov's Tenebrae sums up the program in précis, contemplating the earth as a place of hardship and peace, and zooming in from outer space to the earth and back again.
Pärt: Silouan's Song (1991)
Xenakis: Aroura (1971)
Kernis: Musica Celestis (1990)
Bartók: Divertimento for String Orchestra, Sz. 113
Golijov: Tenebrae (2002)
