Join the Yale School of Music for a conversation with pianist and musicologist Dr. Samantha Ege and distinguished alumni composer Soomin Kim ’21MM ’22MMA about the Piano Concerto in C minor by Helen Hagan, the first Black woman to graduate, in 1912, from the Yale School of Music. Ege will perform the world orchestral premiere of Hagan’s Concerto with Principal Conductor Peter Oundjian and the Yale Philharmonia, using Kim’s new orchestration, on Friday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Woolsey Hall. The concert program also includes Mahler’s First Symphony, “Titan,” and Vaughan Williams’ Oboe Concerto with soloist Soo Min Ha ’21MM ’22MMA.
Free admission, no reservation required.
Concerts at YSM are open to asymptomatic individuals with an up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination. Concertgoers should carry vaccination documentation and be prepared to show it if asked. Yale-approved masks are required for all audience members.
