Yale Collegium Musicum
First performed in London in 1728, John Gay’s ballad opera features characters drawn from London’s criminal underworld, whose dog-eat-dog philosophy serves as a vehicle for vicious political, social and musical satire. The Yale Collegium presents scenes and ballads from the opera outlining their social and musical context. This performance will take place at the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library.
There will be a pre-concert lecture at 4:30pm.
